G’day Guernsey

Yessiree, Big Word of Mouth is heading your way.

Pretty exciting, hey!

If you’re wondering just what the fuss is about, head to the About page and have a squiz. Or, if you’re pushed for time, let me give it to you in a nutshell.

Big Word of Mouth is a live storytelling event. There’s a theme. Five storytellers self-nominate from the audience to tell a story on the theme. There are no notes, no props and the story is true. Oh, and the theme is LOVE.

If you’re the kind of person who would rather swallow rat poison or poke your eye out with your toothbrush than take to the microphone, relax…okay…no one will make you do anything you don’t want to.

But if you’re keen to tell a story…and we certainly understand that urge…then get ready.

The inaugural (love that word) Guernsey Big Word of Mouth is on August 10, at 7pm. In St Peter Port. At the Les Rocquettes Hotel. It’ll set you back ten quid which will get you in the door, some delish finger food, and a great show.

It’s a fundraiser for a local charity for young people with communication issues (it’s called Go…as in Giving Opportunities – but you Guernsey folk already know that).

Paula Kontelj will emcee the event and I’ll be scuttling over from Geelong, the Headquarters of Big Word of Mouth, to check out your fine neck of the woods. I’ll also be doing a new show, A Nice Night Out, in the second half.

Paula will have the tickets ready for you to buy through Guernsey Tickets next week. In the meantime, have a wander around the website (that’s me, cuddling a lamb in a jumper…in case you’re wondering) and get a feel for Big Word of Mouth and start telling your friends and organising your calendar.
