HUNGER is the theme for the next Big Word of Mouth at The Geelong Club.
Oh, I see, you’re saying, that’s what the cake is about. Yes indeedy. A hunger for cake, for steak, for mouth-coating long-lingering chocolate, for sex, for power, for money, for babies, for country, to prove your right, as a protest, a longing, a deep and committed appetite for something or someone, for what?
Four story slammers will be joined by a wild card in their quest to be the Grand Slammer. What, we wonder, are our five Grand Slam wannabes hungry for.
Judging will be done by secret vote, by you, the audience deciding the best storyteller of the season.
The excitement is palpable. But that’s not all. We will have Pants on Fire. If you’ve been to a Big Word of Mouth before you know this is fun…
At the July 11 Grand Slam we will feature adventurer John Olsen (the man who’s walked from one end to the other of Australia, three times, in three different directions); author Rosalie Ham (her book The Dressmaker has won a gazillion awards and instilled frock envy in every woman worth her salt); and food and wine guru Rita Erlich (judge, author, consultant, legend in her field).
Doors open at 6. You’ll need to get your ticket beforehand here. Come for a drink (bar prices) or a feed (it’s a choice of this or that, $15). The show is at 7. It’ll be done and dusted by 9.30 (it is a school night, after all).
